In July the musical film days in Oberaudorf always inspire people. At the centre of the small, fine regional festival are films where music plays a central role: exciting documentaries about important people in the music world, TV documentaries, films where music forms the central context or live recordings of concerts, naturally with background stories directly from the people in film, actors and actresses and directors who are accompanying the festival.
The festival founded by a charity for the BR editor Markus Aicher in 2007 has, over the last few years, become a permanent summer date for the public and musical film enthusiasts thanks to numerous sponsors and supporters from the film industry with steadily increasing visitor numbers.
Even in a place without a cinema it has been possible to create a unique meeting place, to awaken people's curiosity for music and film and to excite the public for the musical film type. A festival should be created where the film technicians and public are at the same level, people talk to each other and the atmosphere creates a relaxed atmosphere very different to that of the red carpet.
The films are either in German or in their original version with German subtitles.
